Arrivederci'

After much ado about everything and a few last-minute errands (Dave forgot extra tubes, socks, TRANQUILIZERS - not really) we're ready to leave. Next stop ... Nice, France. See you in 15 hours or so. The adventure begins ... oy veh.

  2. So...uh....
    Did the bike make it???

Nothing like a little starting line stress to make you forget about all of the insignificant things in life ! Like work ! HA !

For all of you who missed it, last I heard of the duo, they were sitting in Green Bay having just been told that the bike doesn't fit in the plane ! Look forward to the next blog, she's gonna be a good-un !

  3. I hope you are well on your way with the bike! I have been thinking of you each and every day, since my talk with Julie last week, praying for a safe and happy trip for you both. Please know that no matter what happens, you are both great people. Remember to practice patience with each other and it's not about the destination in the end, but the ride along the way. Enjoy the ride! Peace and love.

  5. If you're not too jet lagged, check out this link to the Map My Ride Le Tour Challenge: http://www.mapmyride.com/tdf/sign_up_thanks. It sounds like fun and I bet you're the only player who would be doing it on the actual course. It looks like you can download from a GPS too.

  6. Can't believe you got all of that stuff in the car! One thing's for sure....you guys are master packers!! Speaking of the Euro, I just checked the exchange rate last night and it looks like it's still pretty awful, so be prepared. Safe travels and keep the reports coming.

  9. I've had a chance to talk with dad and Julie twice in the past few days and here's whats going on(short version):

Made it to Nice with all there luggage, and drove in a larger than anticipated motor home to Monaco.

Dad starts the epic ride in Monaco the next morning. About 50ft into the tour he crashes when his front wheel sinks into a metal grate, throwing him from his bike and possibly breaking 1 or 2 ribs. He finishes the ride and does half (more on this later) of stage 2. Lesson learned: don't keep your eyes on your gears for too long.

Julie struggles with over sized motor home while trying to follow dad on the route. They said something about a incident and a roundabout, but i couldn't understand through all the crying. Dad abandons to help drive the rest of the day. Julie has lost complete confidence in driving at this point.

The following morning Dad rides the stage 2 in reverse to the point where he left off the day before, then turns around and finishes the route in the correct direction. Then he does stage 3. Julie takes a mental health day, i hope there was a beach involved.

No news since then. Dad & Julie if you read this, call Liz with more news and post something soon!
